He was a minister in Maumoon's cabinet for a long time and served as the MP for Malé from 1980 to 1995. He also served as the MP for Laamu Atoll from 2003 to 2008. ==Background== His sister Nasreena Ibrahim has been the First Lady of the Maldives since 1978. His brother Abbas Ibrahim was the speaker of the Maldivian Parliament, was also a former minister.
